We’re on the move

We’re in the process of moving our web site to http://www.jimhunterphotography.co.uk and have a blog incorporated in that site.

That means our blog here will stop being updated so please take a look at www.jimhunterphotography.co.uk/blog and let us know what you think of the blog and the new site too.

Charlotte & Luke’s Wedding at Trafford Hall

What a great day we had yesterday helping Charlotte and Luke celebrate their wedding at St Peter’s Church in Aston by Sutton and then at Trafford Hall. St Peter’s is a Grade 1 listed building and a magnificent structure with lots of natural light.

Trafford Hall is one of Cheshire’s hidden gems and is fast gaining a reputation as a premier wedding venue. Another listed building (Grade 2 this time I think) with beautiful grounds and a very eco friendly approach.

Here’s a shot of our lovely Bride Charlotte holding the photo we presented them with after their wedding breakfast. It was great to get so many lovely compliments about how friendly and unobtrusive we were during the day.

Wediting!

Another rainy Monday morning despite the Met Office and BBC forecasts for a dry day!

Can’t think of a better way to spend it that going through and editing the hundreds of photos we shot at Sarah and David’s Wedding on Saturday.

The only person to get anything wrong during the ceremony was the Priest!  I’m sure she did it on purpose to ease their nervous:)

Here’s a shot of them leaving church for the Rhinewood Country House Hotel in Glazebrook for their Wedding Breakfast.

The new Mr & Mrs Taylor-Jones

We managed to avoid the rain until we were doing the Bride and Groom portrait session so out came the Wedding brollies for some shots with a difference.

Sarah and David’s Wedding

Just backed up all the images from Sarah and David’s Wedding today at the Rhinewood Country House Hotel in Glazebrook. Off there again shortly to shoot their first dance and deliver their Honeymoon Album.

How lucky were we not to get rain until right at the end of the photo session!

Another 2013 Wedding booking!

Really pleased to receive an email from Claire and Chris who I visited on Monday booking us for their Wedding at Rivington Hall Barn in August 2013.

It’s our second booking this week and I had a consultation meeting yesterday evening and another booked for tomorrow.

Dates for 2013 are filling very quickly sat the minute and we are already taking bookings for 2014.

I would strongly suggest that anyone planning on getting married in the next couple of years makes sure they book their photographer as quickly as possible as your date might just get snapped up by someone else.

Choosing your Wedding Photographer

Choosing the right photographer for your Wedding is obviously a big decision so here are a few tips as to what we think you should be considering and asking:
• Do you like the style of their photography?
• Are they able to show you at least two albums of full weddings from bridal prep to first dance?
• Are they flexible in what they are prepared to do for you?
• Does what they offer fit within your budget? Many sources suggest that you budget no less that 10% of your total budget for your photography. After all, once the cake has been eaten. the flowers have wilted and your beautiful dress packed away, the only permanent reminder of the biggest day in your lives will be the photos captured for you on the day by your Wedding photographer.
• Do they offer a range of options that will fit WHAT YOU WANT? – or do they insist that you have a package with an album included even though you said you didn’t want or couldn’t afford one? We offer all couples the opportunity to simply pay for their photography and a disc of images with the option of ordering an album after the Wedding once their finances have recovered!
• Do they have all the necessary insurances (Public and Employer Liability and Professional Indemnity) in place? Some venues no refuse entry to photographers who can’t produce proof of insurance.
• Do they have backup equipment? Being very expensive doesn’t mean that professional cameras never fail and when they do it could ruin your day if there was no backup available.
• Do they have backup photographers? Anyone can get sick unexpectedly so it’s important to know they have a plan B should that happen.
• Do they have testimonials from previous couples?
• Do they offer a pre-wedding meeting or engagement shoot?
• Will they attend your rehearsal (assuming a church Wedding)? Good to meet your Vicar or Priest to check what photography they will allow on the day.
• Will the person who sold you their services be your photographer on the day or will a complete stranger turn up?
• Is the photographer someone you can relate to and get along with? After all, other than your new Spouse, you will spend more time with your photographer than anyone else on your big day. If you think they are not the type of person you could get along with then it is likely to end up a stressful experience which will most likely show in the photos of what should be the happiest day of your lives.

I appreciate this is quite a lot to digest but it is the most important day of your lives so hopefully this will help you Brides and Grooms to be out there in making your choice and avoiding the possible pitfalls along the way.

Good luck and please feel free to call us for a no obligation meeting to discuss your big day.
